What Summer Looks Like Around Here (And Why I’m Not Disappearing This Year)

If you’ve been around HazzardousHousewife for a while, you might’ve noticed a pattern.

Things get a little quieter in the summer.

Fewer orders.

Slower days.

A little more space to breathe.

And honestly? That’s not an accident.

Summer, for me, has always been a season I lean into at home. My kids are out of school, the schedule shifts, and I trade some stitching time for slower mornings, later bedtimes, and saying “yes” to things I don’t always have time for during the rest of the year.

And I don’t regret that for a second.

But.

(There’s always a “but,” right?)

 

The Part People Don’t Always Say Out Loud

Running a handmade business means riding the waves.

And summer?

It’s a different kind of wave.

It can feel like I'm losing momentum.

Like the algorithm forgets I exist.

Like my shop got… quiet.

Even when I know it’s seasonal.

Even when I chose to slow down.

 

What I’m Doing Differently This Year

2026 feels a little different for me.

Because while I still want the slower mornings, the family time, and the flexibility…

I also don’t want to start from scratch every fall.

I’ve worked hard to build momentum—through orders, content, showing up here—and I don’t want to completely disappear for two months and expect it to magically be there waiting for me.

So this summer, I’m not going all-or-nothing.

I’m choosing both.

 

What “Summer Pace” Looks Like for Me

It doesn’t look like peak season.

It doesn’t look like the holidays.

And it’s definitely not perfectly consistent.

But it does look like:

• Showing up, even if it’s not every day
• Creating, even if it’s smaller projects
• Sharing behind the scenes (the real ones, not just the polished ones)
• Working ahead on ideas I know future me will be thankful for
• Starting Christmas prep early (because December me deserves better 😅)

And maybe most importantly—

Letting it look different without calling it failure.

The Goal Isn’t Hustle. It’s Consistency.

I’m not trying to turn summer into a grind.

I’m trying to stay visible.

Stay creative.

Stay connected.

Because this business was never just about the busiest seasons—it’s about building something that lasts through the seasons.

Slower doesn’t mean you’re falling behind.

And for me?

This year, I’m not disappearing in the summer.

I’m just doing it differently.
